Position Summary
Pergamon Labs is looking for a Senior Full-Stack / Platform Engineer with strong Python and DevOps experience to co-design and build a new AI-driven platform based on autonomous AI agents, APIs, and middleware integrations. This role is focused on building the foundation of the platform, not just implementing isolated features. You will work closely with AI Engineers and Product to shape the system architecture, design agent workflows, and ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and production-ready from day one.
The ideal candidate combines backend engineering skills with infrastructure awareness and feels comfortable operating across application code, middleware, and deployment environments.
Key Responsibilities
Platform & Architecture
· Co-design the architecture of an AI-agent-based platform together with the core engineering team.
· Define and implement a middleware layer enabling AI agents to interact with internal services and external APIs.
· Make architectural decisions covering backend services, APIs, integrations, and deployment patterns.
Backend & Middleware
· Design and develop backend services primarily in Python.
· Build secure, well-structured APIs used by autonomous AI agents.
· Implement stateful, multi-step workflows for agent-driven processes (document generation, translation, media generation, publishing).
· Extend and adapt existing services to support agent orchestration and long-running tasks.
· Ensure robustness, validation, and fault tolerance of agent-facing endpoints.
Frontend (Selective / Platform-Oriented)
· Build or extend frontend components for internal tools, configuration panels, or platform administration.
· Collaborate on UI flows related to AI-powered processes and system control (technology-agnostic).

DevOps & Infrastructure
· Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform services.
· Work with containerized environments (Docker) and cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent).
· Support deployment strategies, environment separation, and service scalability.
· Implement logging, monitoring, and basic observability for platform components.
· Contribute to security best practices (API protection, secrets management, access control).
Collaboration & Ownership
· Work closely with AI Engineers on agent orchestration, API contracts, and execution logic.
· Collaborate with Product and QA to translate business requirements into stable technical solutions.
· Take ownership of platform-level decisions and long-term maintainability.
· Write clear technical documentation and guide implementation standards.
Requirements
Core Engineering
· Strong experience as a Senior Backend / Full-Stack / Platform Engineer.
· Very good knowledge of Python and backend system design.
· Proven experience designing APIs and middleware for complex systems.
· Experience with workflow handling, background jobs, or multi-step automation.
DevOps & Infrastructure
· Hands-on experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
· Practical knowledge of cloud environments (preferably AWS).
· Understanding of production concerns: performance, monitoring, security, stability.
· Ability to reason about infrastructure and application behavior as a whole.
AI & Automation (Nice to Have)
· Experience integrating AI or LLM-based services.
· Understanding of agent-based systems or automation frameworks is a strong advantage.
· Ability to design systems that support autonomous execution and orchestration.
