Senior AI Engineer – GenAI / LLM / Insurance / $50-75k P/M

6-Month Contract (Strong Potential for Extension/Conversion)

A leading financial... services organisation is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to deploy production-grade AI systems directly into Finance operations as part of a major transformation programme.

This is a forward-deployed role, working closely with Finance stakeholders to design and implement high-impact AI solutions — from LLM copilots and intelligent agents to RAG pipelines and decision-support tools.

The Role

You will design, engineer, and deploy AI-powered solutions that modernise Finance processes, improve forecasting accuracy, and automate complex workflows.

Working in short, iterative delivery cycles, you will move from use-case discovery to production deployment — ensuring scalability, governance, and measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Build production-grade AI systems (LLM copilots, agents, RAG pipelines)

• Engineer secure and governed retrieval across finance datasets

• Design reusable prompt libraries, agent patterns, and evaluation frameworks

• Implement LLMOps/MLOps best practices (testing, versioning, monitoring, telemetry)

• Integrate AI solutions with enterprise platforms and APIs

• Ensure compliance with governance, model risk, and audit standards

• Partner directly with Finance SMEs to shape requirements and define success metrics

• Contribute to AI playbooks, education, and change management initiatives

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• 5+ years delivering AI/ML applications in production environments

• Experience within financial services (insurance experience advantageous)

• Strong understanding of finance processes (ledger, planning, forecasting, actuarial outputs, regulatory reporting)

• Experience operating in consulting-style or forward-deployed delivery models

Technical Skills

• Strong Python and SQL

• Hands-on experience with LLMs, GenAI, and RAG architectures

• Experience with Azure AI ecosystem (Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Search, Databricks/Spark, CI/CD)

• Experience building embedding pipelines and vector search solutions

• Solid understanding of LLMOps/MLOps frameworks

• Strong data engineering fundamentals (ETL/ELT, finance data modelling)

• Experience integrating AI with enterprise platforms (ERP, APIs, Microsoft ecosystem tools)

Governance & Engineering Mindset

• Strong focus on privacy, security, access controls, and model governance

• Experience building auditable, production-ready AI systems

• Understanding of guardrails, evaluation, and cost optimisation across AI workloads
