About The Role
Lead architecture and development of an edge‑to‑cloud platform enabling intelligent automation for retail, hospitality, universities, and AI data centers. This IC role may evolve into team leadership. Heavy emphasis on system design, customer engagement, and deep domain understanding—not purely coding.
Key Technical Challenges
• Build robust edge gateways integrating Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet, SNMP in mission‑critical sites.
• Ingest high‑frequency telemetry from thousands of devices across multi‑site deployments.
• Design real‑time alarms, anomaly detection, and event correlation.
• Support cloud, hybrid, and on‑prem deployment models.
• Enable edge execution of optimization algorithms with cloud synchronization.
• Deliver high reliability for enterprise and critical‑infrastructure customers.
What You Will Do Platform Architecture & Strategy
• Define scalable architecture for the edge‑to‑cloud platform.
• Translate customer operational needs into technical specs.
• Evaluate build‑vs‑buy infrastructure decisions.
• Track IoT, DCIM, and automation trends for strategic guidance.
• Maintain architectural documentation and standards.
Edge Gateway Development
• Build production‑grade gateway software with local data processing.
• Implement protocol adapters: Modbus, BACnet IP, SNMP.
• Develop real‑time edge computing frameworks.
• Ensure secure, reliable communications between edge and backend.
Backend & Data Platform
• Architect scalable ingestion pipelines for high‑volume telemetry.
• Design time‑series storage for real‑time + historical analytics.
• Build APIs for dashboards, apps, and integrations.
• Support multi‑tenant and flexible deployment models.
• Manage data aggregation, retention, and efficiency.
Monitoring, Alarms & Operations
• Build alarm engines (threshold, rate‑of‑change, correlation).
• Implement system health monitoring across edge + cloud.
• Establish CI/CD for edge and backend.
• Design OTA update pipelines with rollback capability.
• Build observability (logs, metrics, traces).
Technical Leadership
• Collaborate with Controls & Optimization lead on integration.
• Work with firmware and frontend teams.
• Define backend best practices.
• Support customer engagements and technical proposals.
Required Skills
• Backend depth: Python, Django/FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, time‑series DBs, async programming, microservices.
• Distributed systems: Edge‑cloud patterns, MQTT/Kafka, synchronization patterns.
• Domain knowledge: Building automation, DCIM, SCADA, industrial IoT.
• Protocols: Modbus, BACnet, SNMP.
• DevOps: Docker, CI/CD, AWS/Azure/Tencent Cloud.
• Systems thinking: Real‑time performance, reliability, scalability.
• Communication: Customer‑facing skills, documentation.
• Languages: English + Mandarin.
Qualifications
• 5+ years in backend/platform engineering.
• Degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in IoT, DCIM, building automation, or industrial systems.
• Proven ownership of major technical initiatives.
• Customer‑facing requirement definition.
• Experience with high‑availability or mission‑critical systems preferred.
