The Department
The Security, Integrity and Information Security Department safeguards the integrity of horse racing, betting, and membership at the Club by combating criminality and corruption risks.
A key aspect is illegal betting in Hong Kong, a complex underground economy which has many negative impacts on Hong Kong society. As a key member of the Integrity and Financial Crime Risk team and reporting to the Senior Manager, Due Diligence & Research, the Senior Analyst will play an important role in producing high-quality research and investigative work around illegal betting. This involves creating compelling presentations and research for internal and external stakeholders, turning data into insightful story-telling, and assisting in project managing complex initiatives.
By doing so, you will have direct impact on the organisation’s strategic priorities, but also on the wider betterment of Hong Kong society by helping combat illegal betting’s many negative impacts.
The Job
You will:
• Works independently and collaboratively with other senior analysts to collate, analyse, and synthesise information and data from a wide range of sources. Transforms complex material into actionable intelligence through comprehensive reports and visually engaging presentations, facilitating a clear understanding of issues related to illegal betting and financial crime risks.
• Converts raw data into impactful storytelling and produces high-quality outputs in writing / presentations. Ensures deliverables are of consistently excellent standard through incredible attention to detail in both language and numbers.
• Assists DDR Manager and under oversight of Senior Manager, supervises and project-manages some aspects of research key projects and key deliverables.
• Under direction of managers works with senior analysts in annual refreshment of core Research team anti-illegal betting narrative, including tailoring content for internal stakeholders and external stakeholders in Hong Kong, the PRC and globally, including supporting research work of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities Council on Anti-Illegal Betting and Related Crime.
• Supports Research Manager in drafting methodologies and processes that underpin the Research programme
• Supports Research Manager in regular internal stakeholder engagement with other departments and develops an in-depth understanding of the structure and objectives of the Club's Anti-Illegal Betting work and how this work supports the broader aims of the department and the Club
• Supports Research Manager in preparing and providing formal research training and action learning programs both to departmental staff and wider Club stakeholders. Works with other analysts to share knowledge, identify training gaps and enhance collective expertise
• Proactively supports other sections within the Security, Integrity and Information Security team with ad-hoc assistance as needed. Engage in ongoing training and development programs to enhance both analytical and managerial skills, contributing to personal growth and the team's overall effectiveness
About You
You should have:
• A Masters' or Bachelors' degree in a subject which requires a high level of critical and/or investigative analysis, ideally combining both qualitative and quantitative research aspects such as (but not limited to) Data Journalism, Economics, Criminology, Finance, Risk Management
• Demonstrable track record of producing impactful research reports and presentations both independently and as part of teams, including project management / supervisory
• Three to six years' experience in a dynamic, fast-paced and numerate/analytical working environment. Experience in research firms / financial services / risk management / compliance / investigations and/or with top-tier consulting firms would be relevant
• The ideal candidate for this role will be as comfortable with words as well as numbers and able to demonstrate experience of translating complex topics into easily digestible findings for a wide range of audiences
• Familiarity with racing and other sports industries and/or betting industries locally and internationally, including regulatory and political factors, would be a major advantage
