3D Spatial Computer Vision Engineer Intern

We are seeking a driven and curious Computer Vision Intern to help develop core perception algorithms for sensor fusion and 3D registration in Augmented Reality-based surgical navigation systems. You will contribute to building real-time spatial localization capabilities by fusing data from different cameras and sensors. The objective is to achieve precise anatomical registration to enable real-time surgical AR overlays. You'll work at the intersection of AR, robotics, and medical imaging, solving complex vision and registration problems that directly impact lives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Integrate and calibrate sensor data from RGB, depth (structured light or time-of-flight), and IMU-based sensors.
• Develop and optimize algorithms for rigid and non-rigid registration of anatomical data (CT/MRI) to real-world coordinates.
• Work on sensor fusion pipelines, combining multiple modalities to increase localization accuracy and system robustness.
• Implement spatial tracking and 6-DoF object localization using techniques such as visual odometry, SLAM, ICP, and feature matching.
• Collaborate with software and AR engineers to ensure seamless integration into the surgical AR visualization stack.
• Benchmark performance and optimize for low-latency, high-precision operations.

Requirements:
• Currently pursuing or a full-time Bachelor's/Master's degree in CS/EE/BME/Robotics or related in Hong Kong.
• Solid foundation in 3D computer vision, including geometric transformations, point cloud processing, and sensor calibration.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.
• Understanding of linear algebra, coordinate systems, optimization, and 3D geometry.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with OpenCV, Open3D, and basic SLAM or feature-based localization techniques.
• Interest in applying vision solutions in healthcare or surgical robotics.
• Team members of Robotics team are preferred.
