Job Opportunity Overview
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking a Research Associate to conduct and support empirical research in Fintech areas, focusing on AI/ML and multimodal content analysis. The appointee will work closely with faculty members to develop natural language processing algorithms for Chinese texts, including pre-training and fine-tuning of language models.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement NLP techniques for text representation and semantic extraction
• Conduct data cleansing, manipulation, and analysis using strong quantitative skills
• Collaborate with faculty members to design and execute research projects
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the faculty
Requirements
• PhD degree in computer science, data analytics, statistics, mathematics, or related disciplines
• Strong understanding of NLP techniques, data structures, and modeling
• Excellent quantitative skills and experience in data analysis
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
• Experience in working with sentiment analysis and advanced text analytical skills in Chinese is highly valued
