Who We Are
Sparkmate is a tribe of fearless makers, solving the world’s most pressing problems with hard tech and industrial solutions. Originally an engineering services company, we have pivoted to focus on developing electric steel production technology. Our goal is to transform the $1.5T global steel industry through the complete electrification of primary ironmaking, eliminating reliance on fossil fuels and driving industrial decarbonization at scale.

About the Role
We are looking to strengthen our team with a Lab Test Engineer specializing in electrochemistry with 1-4 years of experience.
What You’ll Do
• Run and improve experimental electrochemical setups
• Collaborate closely with the team to iterate on process design and scale-up
• Design and conduct lab-scale tests
• Analyze materials, track performance, and troubleshoot experiments
What We’re Looking For
Desired Expertise:
• Hands-on experience with experimental electrochemical cell setups
• Basic chemistry lab knowledge and skills (safety practices, measurement and precision, solution preparation, titration, chemical handling and storage..)
• Background in materials / metallurgical is a bonus
• Proficiency in materials characterization techniques
• Strong data analysis skills (Python, MATLAB)
• Familiarity with thermodynamic modeling & calculations
• Solid understanding of electrochemistry principles (e.g., charge transfer, current-voltage relationships)
It's okay if you don't have it all. ;)
Educational Background:
• Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field
