Frontend developer

Applications are invited for appointment as Frontend Developer, to commence as soon as possible.

The appointee will join the Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health (D24H), a start-up company incorporated by The University of Hong Kong (HKU) that is led by senior faculty members of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at HKU. The D24H sets to play pivotal role in gathering and curating massive, unique data resources and to develop new, deep, frontier analytics in protecting global public health and improving individual healthcare through precision medicine.

Responsibilities
• Develop and deploy the front-end of our no-code platform utilising React.js;
• Establish reusable, efficient, and scalable UI components employing pure CSS and JavaScript;
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to validate the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and deliver top-notch user experiences;
• Optimise applications for peak speed and scalability;
• Verify the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs;
• Enhance and maintain the platform's user interface for consistency and quality;
• Coordinate with backend developers to fuse front-end components with server-side logic;
• Craft clean, maintainable, and well-documented code; and
• Perform code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to uphold code quality.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related disciplines;
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Frontend Developer;
• Proficiency with no-code or low-code platforms;
• Experience with the Azure cloud platform;
• Strong command of React.js and its fundamental concepts;
• Thorough understanding of JavaScript, encompassing ES6+ features;
• Demonstrated proficiency in crafting UI components using pure CSS and JavaScript;
• Sound knowledge of web markup, encompassing HTML5 and CSS3;
• Familiar with responsive and adaptive design principles;
• Proficiency in using version control systems such as Git; and
• Familiar with front-end building tools and contemporary development workflows.
