Job Description: Resident Engineer – Network Infrastructure (Migration)

Overview

We are seeking a
Resident Engineer – Network Infrastructure
to support
network migration and ongoing operational activities
for enterprise environments in Hong Kong. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in
network implementation, migration, and Day 1 / Day 2 support
, and be comfortable working in a customer-facing, on-site role.

Fluency in
Cantonese and English
is mandatory, as this role involves close collaboration with local stakeholders and regional teams.

Key Responsibilities

Migration & Implementation (Day 1 Activities):
• Support network infrastructure
migration projects
, including planning, implementation, and cutover activities
• Perform installation, configuration, and commissioning of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless)
• Execute network changes according to approved design and change management processes
• Conduct system testing, validation, and handover documentation

Operations & Support (Day 2 Activities):
• Provide
Day 2 operational support
, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for network issues and implement corrective actions
• Support patching, upgrades, and configuration changes
• Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Act as on-site technical point of contact for customers
• Work closely with client IT teams, vendors, and remote engineering teams
• Provide clear technical updates and reports in both Cantonese and English

Technical Skills & Experience

Required:
• Hands-on experience with
enterprise network infrastructure
• Solid understanding of
LAN, WAN, WLAN, TCP/IP, routing & switching
• Experience supporting
network migration projects
• Familiarity with
Day 1 (implementation)
and
Day 2 (operations/support)
activities
• Experience with at least one major vendor:
• Cisco (Switching, Routing, Firewalls)
• Fortinet / Palo Alto / Check Point (added advantage)
• Strong troubleshooting skills in production environments

Good to Have:
• Experience with data center or cloud-connected networks
• Knowledge of ITIL-based operational processes
• Relevant certifications (CCIE)

Language Requirements
• Cantonese – Fluent (mandatory)
• English – Fluent (mandatory)
• Mandarin is an added advantage

Soft Skills
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• Able to work independently in a resident/on-site environment
• Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work under change windows and project timelines
