Background

Harmony House is undergoing a website technical improvement initiative to ensure that our services, helplines, and donation information can be accurately discovered on Google. Recently, our Google Search Console (GSC) has reported several issues—including:Pages mistakenly flagged as noindexSitemap not fully processed by GoogleInconsistent canonical tagsKey Chinese pages not indexed properlyThese issues can directly affect whether people in crisis can find us, including:- 24-hour helplines- Domestic violence support pages- Donation pagesWe are seeking a detail-oriented volunteer with basic GSC / SEO knowledge to help us fix and monitor these indexing issues, ensuring our essential information is visible and reachable.

What We Have

Controlled access to Google Search Console, URLs for inspection, One internal contact person for communication and support, Provide start guide on how to navigate our GSC

Why this is important

Harmony House supports women, children and families affected by domestic violence. When someone searches for help, our official pages must surface quickly. GSC is the operational link between our site and Google: by fixing noindex, keeping Sitemap valid, and ensuring canonical/robots compliance, we make sure helplines, services, and donation paths are correctly indexed and visible—so people in need can find help faster and supporters can reach us more easily.

What We Do

Agency Introduction: The Harmony House was established in 1985 as the first shelter for abused women and their children in Hong Kong. Today, we have developed into a one-stop anti-domestic violence service agency, with a wide range of preventive, therapeutic and developmental programmes to help families affected by domestic violence. We also organise community education programmes, promote harmonious and healthy family relationships, provide training to multi-disciplinary professionals and advocate for policies and legislations on behalf of victims of violence, their families and communities. Mission: 1. To tackle the social problems of domestic violence using diverse approaches, and promote harmonious and healthy relationships in families with a comprehensive range of preventive and therapeutic services. 2. To contact and reach out to families in need through counselling and crisis intervention. 3. To change the misconcept and incorrect attitude towards domestic violence through community education, impart appropriate knowledge and skills handle domestic violence.
