Infrastructure Engineer (part-time, hourly wage)

Core responsibilities
Design and implement infrastructure: servers, networks, storage, and virtualization environments that meet business and security requirements.
Operate and maintain systems: monitor health and capacity, apply patches, upgrade platforms, and troubleshoot incidents across OS, network, and storage layers.
Ensure reliability and continuity: implement backup and restore, disaster recovery, high availability, and system migration in both system and network.
Security and compliance
Implement infrastructure security controls: firewalls, network segmentation, OS hardening, identity and access management, encryption, and vulnerability remediation.
Align with compliance and policies: follow organization standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining documentation and configurations.
Maintain records of security standards and change management.
Collaboration and process
Work with application team, developers, security, and operations to translate designs into stable, supportable environments and support projects.
Technical skill requirements
Strong OS and platform skills (Linux and Windows), networking fundamentals, storage, and virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V).
Monitoring and tooling: familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
Networking and security: good understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewalls, load balancers, and common security controls and protocols.
Experience in data center migration is an added advantage.
The ideal candidate
Currently pursuing or a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Familiarity with system administration, including Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), or CentOS environments.
Interest in cybersecurity, infrastructure management, and process optimization.
Strong analytical skills for documenting processes, creating dependency diagrams, and conducting firewall configuration reviews.
Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) is a plus.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua is necessary.
