As part of a compact, fast-moving team, the Research Analyst intern will gain hands‑on experience across research production, data engineering, and client-facing delivery in both traditional and digital asset markets.
Role Summary
As a Research Analyst (Intern) at RhinoX, you will assist senior analysts and portfolio managers in producing high-quality research and investment insights across Hong Kong, Greater China, and virtual asset markets. This hands-on role spans data ingestion and engineering, financial and on-chain analysis, model building, and communication of trade ideas. The internship is ideal for students or recent graduates in finance, computer science, data science, or related fields who want practical exposure to sell-side research, trading workflows, and digital assets.
Key Responsibilities
Support senior research analysts in preparing equity, sector, macro, and virtual asset research notes and thematic reports.
Adopt a technology-first mindset: help design, implement and maintain automated data pipelines (market data, corporate filings, alternative datasets, on-chain feeds, API integrations).
Collect, validate, and maintain financial, market, alternative and blockchain/on-chain datasets; ensure data quality and reproducibility.
Assist in building and updating financial and token-economics models (DCF, comparables, discounted token cash-flow, network value models) and valuation analyses.
Conduct on-chain analysis, transaction flow tracking, liquidity and exchange activity monitoring using blockchain explorers, API feeds and analytics libraries.
Create charts, dashboards and presentation-ready materials for internal use and client distribution; support internal research portal and notebook maintenance.
Monitor market-moving news, protocol updates, regulatory developments, corporate actions, earnings releases and broker research; summarize and flag items for the team and sales/trading desks.
Perform quantitative analyses and basic backtests to support trade ideas and investment theses across traditional and digital asset classes.
Help maintain research calendars, distribution lists, and compliance-friendly record-keeping for regulated research and virtual asset advisories.
Support ad-hoc projects (e.g., thematic screening, econometric analysis, ESG/crypto sustainability scoring, competitor benchmarking).
Participate in meetings with analysts, traders and external stakeholders; prepare meeting notes and action items.
Qualifications & Skills
Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a bachelor’s or master’s program in Finance, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline.
Strong academic record.
Solid analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Excel (financial functions, pivot tables; VBA a plus).
Familiarity with financial modeling and valuation techniques (DCF, relative valuation). Experience with token-economics and crypto valuation frameworks preferred.
Experience with programming and data tools (Python, R, SQL). Familiarity with cloud tools (AWS/GCP), APIs, Jupyter/Colab, and workflow tools (Airflow, Prefect) is a strong advantage.
Experience or strong interest in blockchain analytics and virtual asset markets; familiarity with on-chain data sources (Etherscan, Glassnode, Dune, The Graph), DeFi concepts, and major crypto protocols a plus.
Comfortable producing clear written content and presentation slides (PowerPoint).
Ability to work under time pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced trading/research environment.
Good understanding of Hong Kong and Greater China capital markets and the evolving virtual asset regulatory landscape preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; Cantonese and/or Mandarin a plus.
Professionalism and willingness to work within regulatory frameworks applicable to a Hong Kong licensed brokerage, including specific policies for virtual asset research and client communications.

Compliance & Regulatory
