Role Summary
The Senior Merchandiser will be responsible for managing the end‑to‑end merchandising and order execution process, from product development through production and shipment. Based in Hong Kong, this role works closely with U.S. headquarters, overseas customers, factories, and cross‑functional teams to ensure client order management, quality, compliance, cost control, and on‑time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Order & Production Management:
• Manage the complete order lifecycle from product development, sampling, production, and shipment.
• Oversee production timelines to ensure accurate and on‑time delivery across multiple markets.
• Monitor factory efficiency, production capacity, and inventory planning.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, reduce lead times, and improve operational efficiency.
Sourcing & Vendor Management:
• Build and maintain a strong vendor network in China and the region.
• Source new suppliers and evaluate factory capabilities, compliance, and capacity.
• Negotiate pricing, costing, and production terms with vendors.
• Maintain strong working relationships with factories and suppliers.
Quality, Compliance & Risk Control:
• Ensure products meet US and EU toy safety, quality, and compliance standards.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance / Quality Control teams on inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
• Ensure adherence to factory, client, and regulatory requirements throughout production.
Cross‑Functional & Client Collaboration:
• Liaise with US headquarters, regional offices, customers, and internal departments to meet KPIs.
• Communicate order status, quotations, requirements, and shipment updates clearly and proactively.
• Support artwork translation, display adjustments, shipper‑marking, labeling, sampling, and inspection bookings.
Travel & On‑Site Oversight:
• Conduct frequent visits to factories in China for production follow‑up, inspections, and random audits.
• Participate in occasional international travel as required.
Reporting & Administration:
• Oversee expense control, budget tracking, and performance evaluation.
• Maintain accurate order records in ERP systems and internal databases.
• Perform ad‑hoc duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or related disciplines preferred.
• Minimum 5-7 years of merchandising experience in toys, games, hardgoods, or related consumer products.
• Experience working with US and EU market retailers and distributors with knowledge of toy compliance standards.
• Proven ability to manage overseas customers and factories independently.
• Prior experience in multinational or trading environments is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong business acumen and hands‑on working style.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
Language Requirements:
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin.
• Cantonese is required for local coordination.
