Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electrical / Electronic Technician to perform electrical installations, electronic system configurations, testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and fault repairs on EV charging infrastructure and smart carpark systems. This field-oriented role ensures systems meet EMSD standards, achieve high uptime, and deliver excellent performance for commercial and residential deployments in Hong Kong's growing EV ecosystem.
**TTPS, ASMTP and IANG applicants are also welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
Install, wire, and commission EV charging stations (AC/DC) and smart carpark components (IoT sensors, ALPR cameras, guidance displays, access controllers, payment terminals).
Carry out electrical installations including cabling, circuit protection (RCBO/RCD), isolators, distribution boards, and connections in compliance with EMSD Technical Guidelines on Charging Facilities for Electric Vehicles, Code of Practice for the Electricity (Wiring) Regulations , and Electricity Ordinance (Cap. 406).
Perform site electrical/electronic assessments, load calculations, voltage drop checks, and earthing verification for new installations or upgrades (B2B multi-zone or B2C home setups).
Configure and test electronic systems: OCPP protocol integration, network connectivity, IoT devices, smart charging software, load management, and integration between EV chargers and parking systems.
Conduct functional testing, commissioning, and handover to clients, including safety checks, system calibration, and user training.
Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical (power supply, wiring faults) and electronic (sensors, controllers, communication modules) issues to minimize downtime.
Respond to service calls and emergency faults, restoring systems efficiently while documenting work for compliance and records.
Replace/upgrade components (cables, connectors, modules, firmware) and manage tools/parts during field work.
Prepare technical reports, wiring diagrams, test records, and compliance documentation for internal use, clients, and regulatory purposes.
Collaborate with engineers, project teams, registered electrical contractors (if required), and clients to ensure safe, high-quality delivery.
Stay current on EV charging technologies, smart parking advancements, EMSD updates, and Hong Kong EV incentives (e.g., EHSS for home charging).
Requirements
Diploma or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Building Services, or related technical field.
At least 0-3 years of hands-on experience in electrical/electronic installation, maintenance, or field service — preferably in EV charging (EVSE), low-voltage electrical systems, smart building/IoT/parking equipment, or renewable energy infrastructure. Fresh graduated candidates are welcomed.
Knowledge of EV charging standards (OCPP protocols, AC/DC modes, load management) and/or electronic parking systems (sensors, controllers, IoT).
Familiarity with Hong Kong regulations: EMSD guidelines for EV charging facilities, Electricity Ordinance (Cap. 406), Wiring Regulations, and electrical safety practices.
Practical skills in electrical wiring, use of testing equipment (multimeter, insulation tester, earth loop impedance tester), basic networking, and electronic troubleshooting.
Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and commitment to safety (PPE, lockout/tagout procedures).
Good communication in English and Cantonese (Mandarin advantageous); able to interact with clients and document work clearly.
Physically capable for field work, including lifting equipment and occasional work at heights.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered Electrical Worker (Grade A/B or higher) under EMSD regulations, or willingness to obtain.
Valid Hong Kong driving license (Class 1/2 preferred) and willingness to travel across Hong Kong for site work (commercial sites, residential estates, public carparks).
Experience with EV charging installations in Hong Kong (e.g., compliance with Code 26S, EHSS subsidy projects).
Knowledge of OCPP, MODBUS, IoT platforms, or cloud monitoring for EV/smart systems.
Prior work on integrated EV charging + smart parking solutions or residential/commercial sites.
